THANKS TO Filmmaker Thomas Whelan
Thomas Whelan's film "The Art of Travel" lit up the Sacramento Film Festival 2008, winning Best Norcal Selection and went on to win several awards including Best Director
at the Pheonix Film Festival.
Now Thomas has come back to his home town of Sacramento to share his latest great news, receiving
major distribution by First Look Pictures. That's right, this amazing film is now available in
Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, Net-Flick's
and video stores throughout the nation.
On October 3rd, we met Thomas Whelan in person and learned about his amazing film and his amazing
journey as a filmmaker.

Norcal Film Fest Showcase - Thanks to all the Norcal filmmakers
who came out for our showcase in September. We saw films from members Dan Lorenzo and Bob Matteoli and got a glimpse of Mike Wilson's award at the Houston World Fest (pictured above)
for his film "Sounds". We also got an amazing sneak peek at Frank Casanova and Joyce Glover's new
feature, "Doing Time". The amazing dailies Frank showed us (shot on Sony's
new HD Cam) made us wonder why anyone is even shooting film anymore. We had intended to show some of our future guest
Richard Altenbach's work as a teaser but had too much great stuff and ran out of time. If you missed
it, be sure to stay tuned for the next Norcal Showcase as we'll again uncover what everyone is working on and get positive feedback from our peers.
